This is the second time in two years that the drive block on my Kenmore Series 80 washer had worn out. The washer makes a horrible sound at the end of the spin cycle. It cost me over $100 for the labor & service call for a $15 part. It only took him 15 min to replace, Does anyone know how to replace this part?

You will need the special spanner wrench to replace this.AP3538707 Just pull the agitator off, remove the basket drive block nut and remove the spin basket. Check the spin tube tabs that stick up. If the tabs do not have ramps worn in them, you can just replace the drive block. If they do, you can try and file the tabs staight,(make sure not to damage the spindle seal); that should fix them, if not, you will need to replace the spin tube, not an easy job. Make sure you pound tight the drive block nut real tight with a hammer, or you will have problems.
