The timer clicks after drying is complete, have to open the door to make it stop. then it starts clicking again when I close the door

This may be normal unless it is something new to this unit.

Does the timer advance? If not then the timer is probably toast re: the internal gears are messed up.

Does it advance past the off position. Again the timer is probably toast as the set of contacts that kill power to the timer motor are welded shut.
