I have an old kenmore 84870100 was here when i bought this house and worked fine error free until 2 days ago. When i put clothes in, it will fill and agitate but then stop, will not drain unless i pull the hose at the bottom. I have taken the lid off to see if i can tell what the problem is, and i saw nothing which stood out. Anytime the cycle requires draining it will not do it. This machine is probably 20 yrs old or more but worked like a champ for the 15 i had it. Inside it still looks like new ><. I tried to get a look where the hoses go up to the tub inside but isnt that easy to see. The hoses are not cracked or rotted. The switch that gets pressed down when you close the lid is fine as well. I can see no belts inside if there are belts they are covered by a metal guard. But if a belt was broken i dont think it would spin. Without draining the cycle won't ever complete. Any ideas?

If it does nothing and is silent when it comes to drain and spin, the first thing I would do is check the lid switch and its actuator. The first and simple test is: you have to hear a click from the lid switch while the lid is closing. If it does click, then you have to check the switch for continuity (the washer cabinet has to be removed). - The lid switch assembly Part number: AP3094142
