Everything on the microwave/convection combo is working except the microwave will not heat and makes a loud humming noise when it is running. Is this something I can diagnose and fix?

More than likely the magnetron tube has failed. Over 10 years old, you are out of warranty for the part. So you would be looking around $400 to fix from a repair company. You could do it for less than half of that if you have the right tools and alittle knowledge of what your doing.

I am pretty handy with tools. Is the magnetron a part that can be ordered (if so, where) and what does it look like? Do you know of a website that will give me instructions on how to replace it--maybe with diagrams or photos?

In order to replace the magnetron you have to remove the microwave from the cabinet.

- The part number for the magnetron (#1428 on the break down diagram) is AP3191536 and you can order it and view the pictures by clicking on the part number.
