Replaced defrost timer ( AP4246797) in early January. After replacement, frig would stay at 32-34 deg at lowest least cold setting (1 of 7) and freezer would never go lower than around 25 degrees set at coldest setting (7 of 7). Meat would stay frozen but ice cream was always mushy.

Now frig is at 40 deg and freezer is at 34 deg with same settings. Frig compressor cycles on and off as it should.

Any ideas what I can check . . . or is it time for a new
frig/freezer?

Here are your parts

Since the unit seems to be cycling correctly I would say that the thermostat is the culprit.
