Hi, About 4 days ago the display on our microwave stopped working. Just went out. No lightning, nothing else different. Still works as a microwave, but would like to fix the display. Tried unpluggin it for an hour and powering it up again. Nothing. Ideas appreciated. Have no problem taking it apart and putting it together again.

I had a very similar problem and the first symptom was the speaker on the microwave started to make a strange sound. Shortly after the display and speaker failed completely (although the keypad still worked fine).

I first noticed some charred components on the display board, so I replaced it (but it still did not work). I then took some voltage readings on the upstream control transformer and realized one of the secondary coils was bad.

After replacing the display board and transformer all is working again. Sometimes a component failure on one board can have a domino effect.

Thanks to Mr. Miller for consulting and helping me locate the tech manuals for my microwave.
