I am having the same problem as below exactly: but I didnt see any help post. How do I proceed? thanks,

I have a GE refrigerator: model # Gsh25jsrf ss

I have trouble with the ice/water dispenser. The ice maker works fine and appears to make ice in the ice tray. But when I press the dispenser for ice, it doesn't dispense any. Further, I don't hear any mechanical sound indicating that it is even trying. The water dispenser dispenses water some times and doesn't at other times. It is very erratic.

Here's the troubleshooting that I have done:

1. I have disconnected the water filter and have now routed the pipe to the dispenser straight from the dual dispenser valve at the back of the refrigerator. In other words, I have disabled the flow of water via the filter and connected it so that it goes straight to the dispenser.

2. I went to the dual valve dispenser at the back of the refigerator to see if there's an electrical current at the line when the dispenser is pressed. During the times that the water dispenser wasn't working, I didn't pick up an electrical current but at times when the water dispenser was working, the current came through.

3. I have not tried to remove the trim yet.

4. I have also tried to keep the thermostat inside the refrigerator and freezer on the warm side hoping to unclog any inline freezes

What do you think is the issue ? Do you think that the dual valve is not functioning properly ? Or do you think that some electrical controls behind the dispenser trim might have to be replaced ? Particularly given that the ice maker seems to make ice without any issues and atleast some of the time, the water dispenser is able to dispense the water ?

Check the wire harness under the freezer door. If there is nothing wrong then the problem is a bad main control board.

- The part number for the main control board is AP3950129
