My washer runs ok until it reaches the drain and spin point then it stops. If you turn the timer off and wait 15 min, it starts and completes the wash. Can you help with this issue?

Sounds like the motor is gone bad.

- The part number for the motor is AP2905451

Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool washer Model LXR7244JQ1

Leave the timer turned on and see if it starts up automatically after 15 minutes, if so that confirms a bad motor. Also, your timer may have burnt contacts causing the motor to overheat. Just pull cover and check.

I left the timer in the on postion and the machine made a soft humming noise after 15 mins, still did not drain. I out the timer in the off position and waited 15 mins, this time the it hummed and pump started. Motor or timer issue?

It could be both timer and motor. Normally, I would check the motor current when agitating, may be drawing excessive current. You might want to feel the motor to see if it's hot.
If the motor voltages are low in agitate, this would confirm a bad timer.
