I just replaced the motor on this dryer and put everything back together. It started right up. I heard the click to allow the gas to come in, then it ignited. I felt heat but must say it felt like it was getting too hot. After about a minute, it clicks and shuts off.

To eliminate the new motor, I put the timer on "Fluff Air" which does not use any heat at all. The motor ran, drum turned flawlessly for 20 minutes without cutting off. No smell.

I have replaced the coils on this unit years ago when there was a similar issue with the heating. Do the coils go out often? Should I change them again. I know these gas heating elements have a bunch of electronics constantly checking each other to keep things safe. What temperature does the heat cutoff at?

Not totally sure but this might be a false call. When the dryer was cutting out, I had the exhaust running against the backwall. Then I noticed that there is a little, round thermostat mounted on the back cabinet at the bottom, in between the blower and the heat intake.

So, I put the exhaust pipe back on, channeling the heat outdoors (like it's supposed to) and then watched the dryer run. The burnmer cycled on and off 3 times without turning the dryer off.

At this point, I think the thermostat was just doing it's job and turning off the dryer because too much heat was collecting in back of the unit.

Any ideas? Everything seems to be working well.
