My son has a side by side Frigidaire fridge/freezer w/ice maker that has been in storage for approxy 2 years. When he returned home from college and we hooked the appliance up it worked fine for a few days but has started not cooling or freezing. We have unplugged it for several hours and replugged and it will work for several hours just to stop again. It appears to be blowing out warm air. Any suggestions appreciated! TIA Peeka

Check and make sure that the condenser fan underneath
the frig is running properly. You can get to it through the back.

The fan is running but after running this time approxy 16-24 hours the unit is now thawing the ice packs I have in the freezer. Can you think of anything else that it could be? Peeka

When it stops, check if the compressor is running?

where would the compressor be? Also the part that the water line attaches to started leaking last month so we took the water line off of it. Could this cause this behavior???

The compressor is underneath the refrigerator
in the back of the unit-close to the condenser fan,
there’s a picture below. When the unit
is trying to cool both of them should be running.

I took a shot from under the fridge of the fan the compressor (i think) and also a wire plug in thingy thats not plugged into anything. Not sure what it is. When the unit is turned on the fan is running fine. The black thing if this is the compressor gets cool to touch. All the sounds coming from the unit sound normal. Is there a reset button? Also how can i tell if this is a defrost issue?? Thanks again Peeka
heres a photo of the bottom of the fridge with the parts written on for reference.

Yes the black thing is the compressor.
Normally they are slightly warm when running, is that the case here?
Normally you will feel some vibration coming from it, is this the case?

on the side of the compressor. there is i little box with wires. check to see if you have 120 volts on one one the wires. most likly you do since for fan is running there. that little black or white boxis the starter for your compressor take it off and shake it. if something sounds loose in their its bad. that compressor you have has a lot of failures.
