I replaced the capacitor and 1/3 hp blower motor on my york/champion heat pump air handler system. motor blows air with good force. worries are 1. motor is loud and 2. there is an electrical smell. I am hoping the electrical smell burns off over time. I read a little about the squirrel cage being off balance, but there is only one set screw and it is tight. Also the fit of the squirrel cage bearing is very tight in fact so tight I can't get it back off the motor stem so i know it is not wobbling. I am not as concerned about the noise as I am the smell, but any help for either concern would be appreciated. Also, I heard there is a trick for getting the squirrel cage off using a pipe, but am not sure how it is supposed to work. maybe the squirrel cage is just mounted too far down on the motor stem, but I had to move it down almost all the way for it to fit into the air handler housing. Thanks and good luck with your own projects. I mainly work on computers, so if I can help with that drop me a line.

Was this a factory direct replacement motor ?

If you need to pry the blower wheel off, sounds like uneven shaft.
