my old kenmore washer won't spin. it will do everything else - fill, agitate, pump water out. I bypassed the lid switch to rule it out and I have observed the solenoid on the wigwag energize and deenergize, so I know the transmission is being shifted. anybody have any idea how to proceed from here? thanks so much.

When the solenoid goes up, it's pin captures the slid bar and moves it over to engage clutch, check for a busted solenoid pin.

I was only looking at one of the solenoids on that wigwag (if that is in fact the real name of that part). I was looking at the one that looks like it controls the pump. the one on the other side that engages the clutch so that it can spin is not energizing. thanks for the help Richappy

Then you either have a bad solenoid, bad lid switch, bad wire at the solenoid, or bad timer.
