My Kenmore dryer (Model: 87650100, Serial: M73006225) wont heat. Found the igniter to be defective and will replace. My question...the small 8 inch part which is mounted inside the heating element chamber that receives the ignited gas also has a cup type feature on the end of the part. The cup portion has corroded and has fallen off and was resting inside the heating element chamber. What is the name of this corroded part and should it be replaced?

Thanks

Mike

OK, found the name of the mystery part under Maytag parts. It is the gas shutter or burner assembly or burner tube depending on who you are talking to. Since my current part is missing the cup at the end of the tube due to corrosion over time, should this part be replaced? Will the missing cup at the end affect the dryer performance?

Thanks in advance.
