Thanks for the quick response, I tried the element in a different position on the stove and the element worked well. I see from the parts diagram that there are two other devices directly under the element ,they look like switches of some kind. would the problem be there, pls advise or provide alternate approach, thanks.

Set your meter to the 600VAC range and see if the receptacle is getting voltage. Report what you read. [COLOR="Red"]Be very careful not to let your meter probes touch each other or ground to any metal while doing this test.[/COLOR]
