You may have had a film of oil on the clutch and it burned off.

11023022101 KENMORE Top Load goes through spin, and timer takes it to stop the load for the cycle, but 2-4 inches of water left with clothes. ( I was washing rugs- read on another site that is a no-no now...) Before this happened it was making a high pitched sound during rinse cycle. I thought a rock/pebble got stuck under drum ( 2 kids & 2 dogs).... I'd wiggle the drum and shut lid and the sound stopped.... anyone know what I can fix here at home...????

Remove the washer cabinet and the pump (instructions are attached). Check the pump and hoses for a clog inside. Possible it needs a new pump. - The drain pump Part number: AP2907492
