Hi all!

I saw some questions/answers about the very issue I am having; and I just wanted to get some better understanding before I try a repair!

My Maytag has stopped heating up (Gas). I opened up the front, and turned it on and saw the "lighter" (the part that glows to light the gas) turn on very bright and then after about 10 seconds, the gas starts and on it goes! Then after about 30? 60? seconds, the gas turns off. If I redo the same steps, the "lighter" turns on, but turns off in about 5 seconds. I have to wait for a few minutes (cool down?) when it will light the gas again, then it goes off, and repeat...

I also entered the service "menu" on the LCD screen, and it said the temp sensor was ok etc. When I was going my "test" with the gas, it was NOT in auto temp sensor mode, but manual "gas on" mode. I wanted to remove the temp sensor from the issues.

Said all that, I think that the issue is NOT with the temp sensor, but with ???

Looking at the other messages here, it looks like the issue is with my coils on the gas valve, and also the secondary coil(?)

Does that make sense? I have a great appliance repair shop here, so I can purchase the parts locally and give it a shot; I just want to make sure that I replace the most logical parts...Yes?

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appriciated!
