Hi,

Our GE side by side howls like mad, so I followed the advice of some people in the know, and replaced the mainboard with the GE replacement part WR55X10942, as listed by GE and appliancepartspros. Good news is that the howling ceased, which almost brought forth tears of joy. But my tears of joy turned to tears of sadness when I tried to get some water out of the dispenser. Select Water, depress lever, and the button indicator immediately switches to Cubed. No relay click, no water, no ice. The Light button does nothing, either does Crushed for that matter. Plug in the old board, and the constant howling comes back, but so does my ice and water.

Did I get a bad board, or maybe something else is going on? I suppose I will need to return the board, but is it really defective, or just incompatible? Installing it is a no-brainer, since there is no need to cut any jumpers or other wires out of the harnesses. Didn't pinch any wires, it's grounded properly...

Help?
