Not sure exact age of stove but a burner has not been working for some time now , although it does seem to only get warm. Not knowing anything about appliance repair I hesitate to mess with the thing but we all need to save some money somewhere...is this thing still under warranty ...We got this in the house we bought 3 years ago. So basically is there anything we can do? Bad connection? thank you---

I do not think your range is still under warranty. In order to perform the troubleshooting you have to have at least a simple multitester. The multitester If you are ready we can guide you trough the process. Which burner exactly is not working? Describe all problems with your range. - The part number for the multimeter is AP3549875 Here are the break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid range Model KERC508LSS0Gene.

Thank you Gene for such a fast reply...It is the front right hand side burner that only gets warm despite the setting. Do you even call the glass top burner an element still?

The first thing I would check is the "Simmer Switch" on top of the knob for the right front burner. If it's in "on" position then the wattage to the burner is significantly reduced for more precise simmering. You can find the complete information in the " Use and Care Manual" (page 8). Gene.

Well now I just feel silly, yet I am so glad I do not have to take that thing apart. I actually stumbled upon that simmer switch before seeing your reply and could not believe it was on  ! Thank you so much for your help...
