Thanks to your awesome forum along with the South Jersey troubleshooting sheet, I was able to diagnose my fridge problem. I ordered an evaporator motor and circuit board from APP and have just installed them. Everything seems to be working fine.
I do have one question regarding the circuit board replacement - WR55X10552: The instructions say to cut the thermistor wire at Pin 2 of J1 connector, but only for bottom freezer models OR for a number of different ENCODER model prefixes. One of those prefixes is a TD2, which my fridge is (TD225099).
What is an ENCODER model? I did cut the wire since the TD2 is listed in the instructions but am not sure if this is correct??????
Thanks for your help!

Cutting the wire applies to all bottom freezer models and several side by side lines. Based on your serial number, your unit is one of those that apply. If your unit applies and you don’t cut it, you will have trouble with the damper which regulates the amount of air flow that goes from the freezer to the refrigerator section.

After replacing the evap motor/thermistor and the circuit board last night, I let the fridge run overnite - both the fridge and freezer were around 15-20 degrees this morning. I'm guessing I need to reconnect the wire.
This wire is for the fresh food temperature thermistor. Without this connected, how does the controller know the fridge temperature and know when to turn off/on the fan?

Over lunch, I re-connected the thermistor wire which the directions told me to cut during installation (it was the fridge thermistor). This evening the freezer temp is 5 and the fridge temp is 36. All seems to be good.
I'm sure I can't be the only one to be misled on this....
