Originally there was no heat and no drum light. I checked the bulb and it does light when tested in a candle light fixture. I replaced the thermal fuse and operating thermostat. Now the dryer has heat and is functional, however still no interior drum light. I replaced the door switch to no avail. I checked the lamp socket and it appears to be okay. I removed the connections at the socket and tried to test the voltage with a multimeter, but am not clear on what the read should be. When I checked continuity, it was zero. The socket is not loose or burnt. I looked at the wires and did not see any defects. Is there an electronic system that controls the lamp. I am missing something, please advise.
Thanks.

Silly question; but did you remember to reconnect the wires to the door switch?

Yes, of cource I reconnected the wire connection of the door switch and then screwed it into place. Also the dryer is plugged in and works, but not the drum light. I need some suggestions. Please help. Thanks.

If you're not getting 120VAC at the socket, you have an open circuit somewhere. The light is wired in series with the door switch.

Could you please walk me through the steps to find the open circuit. Am I looking for breaks in the wire and/or other things. There are 2 wires connecting to the socket, one white and one orange. If I need to replace the wiring, where do I get the wires and do I splice them with caps or electrical tape? I thought there might be a power control unit involved, although I do not know which one, and it seems unlikely, since all the other dryer functions work properly.

The white wire is the common for that particular circuit throughout the dryer. The orange wire will carry the current from the normally-open contact oft the door switch. Opening the door closes the switch, completing the circuit. With the dryer plugged in, and the socket in place, place one probe of a meter (set to test for a rane of 200VAC) on the center terminal inside the socket. The other probe can go either on the side of the socket. If you don't read somewhere close to 120VAC, trace the wire back to the door switch.
If you can gain access to the terminals, do the same voltage test, being extra careful not to allos the terminals to touch the metal cabinet or chassis. If you get voltage at the terminals, and not inside the socket, replace the socket. If you don't get voltage at the terminals or in the socket, replace the door switch.
