I've got a GE side by side model# ESS25XGMC BB that for the past week or so the fan located above the light near the ice maker has been running non stop. The temp seems ok, in both fridge and freezer.

It does stop running when either door is opened, so I think the light switches are working.

I do have a fluke meter if I need to test anything. Thanks in advance.

UPDATE:

I took the back panel off in the freezer to find the coils completely iced over. I'm in the process of defrosting with a hair dryer now if this helps.

If you had that much frost on evaporator, your temps were not fine. You have a defrost problem. You have either a bad defrost heater element, bi-metal thermostat, or defrost control.
