I have a Thermodor Cook n Vent purchased in oct 1992. I am trying to replace the Ventilator Variable Speed Control Switch (Pt.#414429). I was able to remove the cooktop. However, I am unable to remove panel that covers where the switch is located. Is there a special tool required or am I missing something? Thanks for any info!

I believe I have a similiar unit (THERMADOR RDDS30VQB)
-Raise cook-n-vent unit -unplug stove -remove filter cover and filters -Remove rubber/plastic switch cover (this should pull off) -Topmost metal Cover should pull off as well (pull straight up) -Pull off plastic speed selector knob (may need pliers) -behind the speed selector knob there is a plactic 'bezel' held in place with two plactic tabs at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions (carefully remove) -there should be two sheet metal screws behind the back of the unit and two on the left side. The left top should be obvious, but the left bottom is on the lowermost edge of the sheetmetal cover (I'd remove this one first -always remove the hardest to get to fastener first)
since I was replacing the up/dpwn switch I did not remove the varible speed swicth but you should see screws for thios at his point
good luck
BTW - anyone else replacing the up/down switch can save some serious cash by contacting the switch manufacturer directly. Appliance store wanted $65.00 for this unit and manufacturer sent a new (actually I asked for two and got 2) one for $24.00,

I need to replace thew up/down switch for the subject unit. The last thread advised to buy the switch direct from the manufacturer. Would that be from Bosch?

The switch mfg. in my case was
Judco Manufacturing 1429 West 240th street Harbor City, CA 90710 (310) 534-0959 I had to send them the old one and ended up paying $24.00 for two
The BOSCH Part Number is AP2825671 and my local appliance wanted $55.00 for it

I am intersted in purchasing an up/down switch for the subject vent system as my unit is currently stuck in the up position. The previous thread advised purchasing the AP2825671 direct from the manufacturer as it was a lot cheaper. Would that be from Bosch and do you contact them online?
