I replaced my ice maker yesterday, and when opening my refrigerator door, I hear this clicking noise and the lights are flashing. I am being told that I will need to replace my start relay/overload. I have the parts and I have replaced the overload on the side of the compressor, however, I can not figure out where the start relay is located. I checked the circuit board box and it doesnt go inside there. Any help?

What are the part numbers of the overload and start relay, you have?

Did you figure out where this clicking noise is coming from?

No, but I was told it was from the start relay. The part number for the start relay is AP3601983. The overload part number is AP3040426. I have the overload in the right place, but I cant figure out for pay where the start relay is located. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Does the original start relay looks like it's shown on the following picture?

Yes that's it. And if you pull it apart that's where the overload (white part) goes. But the other part (start relay) I cant figure out. Help!

that black device IS the start relay, and if your clicking noise originated in this area, this is the part that will have failed, though its recommended you replace starter relay and the overload. You MUST make sure you put the correct part on the correct terminals on the compressor as the original, and of course connect the correct wires to the correct terminals too, or you could damage the compressor if done any other way.

Why you did not order the start device (#16 on the diagram) which is exactly the same as the original and cost almost 3 times less?

- The start device Part number: AP3962960
Part number: AP3962960
