its likely not the capacitor, but instead the relay and overload that starts the compressor, check the capacitor just in case, but again, probably not the problem.

Thanks for the fast reply,I did look at the parts diagram and is it item 735, 5sp overload/ptc that the capacitor mounts to?.It just looked like a plug for the capacitor. Thanks, mark in Atlanta

Yes it could be the capacitor, start relay and overload. The best way to test a capacitor is to take it to someone local that has a meter that can test capacitance. The part number for the capacitor is WR62X80, but it is not always the capacitor that causes this. The start relay/overload part number WR09X10106 usually takes a beating over the years. Always make sure power is off and unplugged while working in or on components of your refrigerator. Remove the cover on side of the compressor to expose the start relay and overload combination. Mark wires and their locations with tape and colors or numbers and a photo would not hurt. Replacing those parts usually does the trick and not too expensive either, but as always with any appliance the problem could be caused by something else. For example the condenser fan seems to run OK when you are looking at it but when a fan be it condenser or located in evaporator area goes bad they don't always just stop. They will run for three hours and stop for two. I am in APP's Forun Room and you may want Paul to follow up with you later. I'm on the east cost and it appears Paul is is on the west coast. I have my own Forum Appliance 911 and sponsor four companies including Appliance Parts Pro and myself. Let Me know how things turn out. Technicianseabreeze
