Model TEDS680EQ2
First we had a problem with the dryer starting when the door was closed without pressing the start button. I could live with that, but now the motor stopped turning and the heater was still on... Red hot... I'm glad that it didn't burn the house down!! The heating element is on regardless of whether the door is open or closed. It will only turn off if I turn the timer to one of the off positions. What do you guys think? THanks:confused:

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL TEDS680EQ2 | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a wiring diagram http://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/Wiring%20Sheet%20-%203406692.pdfCould be that just the belt broke, if you can hear the motor running. Unplug the unit and check that the push to start relay contacts are open when the switch/relay is not pushed. Then check that the belt is OK. In the wiring diagram (right hand side), you will see a centrifugal switch in the heater circuit. This closes when the motor gets close to operating speed. It is what prevents the heater from coming on before there is air flow. Could be it is closed all the time. The activating mechanism is not resetting, may be it is just clogged up with lint but usually you can hear the motor buzzing as it cannot start. Or the switch contacts are welded together but this does not explain why the drum is not turning. |
