For the past 4 to 5 months the spin cycle has not worked with increased frequency. In the begining just opening and closing the lid made it work. Then I would spin the tub 5 to 10 degrees and it would work. Now I have to help the tub start spinning for it to work. But it doesn't spin as fast as before. Is this a clutch issue or brake issue or both? The quicker I fix this the sooner I can sleep in the bedroom....

It can be a clutch issue, it can be a brake issue or it can be both. Start by replacing the clutch and if that does not solve the problem delve into the brakes using the info in the Sticky at the top of this page by Richappy.
