Remove the top grille, open the control panel and check the door switches. If there is nothing wrong then the control board has to be replaced.

- The part number for the control (smart) board is AP2025946

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for GE JVM1340BW02 | AppliancePartsPros.com

I read previous post regarding this topic from 05-06-2009, 03:26 PM by Gene Senior Expert APP Volunteer at http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/microwave-repair/32724-micro-starts-when-door-opened.html . I was able to swing the control panel down exposing the switches. As yet I have not determined how to remove them for closer inspection. Any help there would be appreciated as I would not mind the gamble that these switches are the culprit but if the control board needs replacing would likely replace the unit with a new one as the control board is fairly expensive. If I need to order the switch I am not totally sure I have found the correct part on the schematic diagram provided in previous post. I think it is Switch, door sense Part Number: AP2024337 made by GE ( Part Details - GE Switch, door sense, part number: AP2024337 ) but would greatly appreciate confirmation by an expert like Gene if possible and that both switches are the identical part since I haven't gotten them out yet it is difficult to be sure..
Thank you very much!

You do not have to remove the switches. Remove the wires from them (draw a picture of their location before you do it) and check each switch for continuation with the door open and close.

The interlock switches (#29 on the diagram) should show the open circuit with the door open and closed - with the door closed.

The monitor switch (#30) should show the opposite readings.

- The interlock switch Part number: AP2024337

Thank you very much for your assistance. I used my ohmmeter on the switch leads as instructed with switch wires removed testing each with door open and then closed.

With door open: Top switch shows an open; bottom switch shows a short.

With door closed: Top switch shows a short; bottom switch an open.

I think that is what you indicated would be the readings?

Thanks

Hi Gene,
I just joined this forum and have been reading quite a few of your posts. You seem to really know your stuff. Can you answer me this. My Hotpoint, model RVM1435WJ01, microwave will stop and reset after approx 3-12 seconds after turning on, I've tried different power settings, different outlets, everything else works including the lights fans etc, just wont stay running. What seems to be the problem?
