ok, after fighting with whirlpool I took the thin apart and the bearing on the outer tube is bad and the basket shaft is work badly.

Yes, I used regular soap....costly mistake i know.

So do I fixt to the tune of 400 for parts or buy a new wfw9150WW at menards, they are much cheaper now. With a $100 state rebate I would only pay 150 more for a new model but it is better?

Noticed the new ones are made in Mexico not Germany.

only thing I did not see int he new one is auto water level, lady at the store told me it uses 4 more gallons than the higher end whirlpools?

Given your experience with this one, yeah even though you did not use HE detergent why on earth would you consider buying another one?

Take your $400.00 and buy a no frills basic top loader. Use what is left over to treat you and a friend, relative or spouse to a nice dinner. At dinner congratulate yourself on being a smart consumer.

What was I thinking buy another one!!!! NO WAY!!!

After I posted this whirlpool reponded with not being able to find my serial number or model...hmmm they made the thing. Soo, it is on to LG.

Just as a Note...Sears has dumped Whirlpool as the manufaturer of their washers and now use LG.

I do not want to rain on your parade but you may want to take a look on this forum as to how successful people have been getting their LG units repaired. Their fridges are a nightmare.

Also if Sears/Kenmore has dropped Whirlpool it may have nothing to do with the unit's quality and more to do with Sear's profit margin.

Just my opinion.
THIS FORUM IS DEAD!!!!!!!

I do not recommend brands or models. If you can use a top loader, then I recommend what I call a "three button" model. You have one knob for the timer, one for the water temp selection and one for the water level (size of load). GE, Whirlpool (under the Kenmore, Estate, Roper, Inglis and who knows what else brand name) Maytag (made by Whirlpool) and Frigidaire all make this model.

Choose the brand name and dealer you are comfortable with.

If you have to have a front loader because of space or other considerations, get the simplest one you can and make sure you get the extended warranty. Just hope that when (not if, when) it breaks it is still under warranty.

Good luck, hope my doom and gloom are wrong.
