The GE oven element will not turn off, just keeps heating and heating. It does this intermittently. I have unplugged it and plugged it back in, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. We are not sure what to try and replace specifically for this oven, control board, relay switch, element??

The unit does not seem to have a separate relay board, the control relays are on the control board. Sounds like the control board is shot. If the unit shows that it has reached the preset (Preheat) temperature and it continues to heat then probably the relay contacts on the control board are sticking closed. If the unit never reaches set point then it is still probably the control board. There is a long shot that the temperature sensor is not working correctly. |

When it is overheated, you can try to turn the element off by turning the knob to off, and when you turn the knob back to temp, the preheat light flashes. I did get the bake element to turn off by turning the knob to broil and then back to the off position.

Does sound like the bake element relay contacts are sticking closed.
You did not say if the oven shows that it is ready but continues to heat.
If this is the case then it is probably the control board. |
