My icemaker makes about 1/4 of the ice it is suppose to then, melts away and starts all over. One minute I have ice and the next it is gone. I've cleaned with the nu-calgon, removed cutter grid and cleaned scale from parts mentioned in manuel. I cleaned dust, lent, and dirt from the condenser. I also changed the filter connected to the water line going to icemaker. I have done everything it tells in the manuel and my ice is still melting. Sometimes there is ice hanging from the grid that didn't melt the ice all the way to drop.

Hi,

If your freezer temp is 0-5 deg. F then I would replace the ice maker.

First of all this is a stand alone ice maker by kitchenAid, not a smaller expense ice maker that is in a freezer. I paid $1400.00 for this and only had it six years so I don't think I can just go out and replace all my appliances at this kind of expense just in that short length of time. After having a Whirlpool that lasted only three years and this kitchen aid giving me only six years, I won't be buying another one if they don't last no longer than this. If all you can say is go out and buy another one and be ripped off again then, don't bother. These household ice makers just don't hold up.

I don't believe that is what I said, but so be it.

I replaced the shut off valve switch model 70 MOPD 150 PSI 2185758 and it fixed the problem. I just thought I'd post the fix in case anyone else out there came across the same problem they would know how to fix it without going out and buying a new ice maker like everyone else tells them to do.
