I am hoping for a reply on the same problem, or at least that was my original problem- Prior to my newly found leaking icemaker, my feed tube froze often, and it usually caused a hell of a mess. I wet to many sites and have read that Kenmore is notorious for this problem and really no one actually had a solution. In these steps do the following:

Turn off ice maker
Defrost tube ( I used a blow dryer, just don’t shock yourself to death)
Turn off water valve
Defrost tub in the back of the freezer too if it feels hard or frozen
The key to preventing this from happening is to make sure that you turn on the water valve on full pressure prior to turning on the icemaker so that the water pressure is adequate and you don’t get a slow drizzle which allows for ample time for it to freeze up in the tube.

I also made my own modifications, It appears as though in my model, Kenmore Cold Spot, someone engineered the cold air blower to deflect the cold air straight at the tube so I put a small rubbermade food storage container LID an inch above the air vent to deflect the cold air away from the tube. I also placed a small accurately cut piece of black aquarium hose directly into the hole where the water feeds and ran it down the plastic shoot to the tray. This provides a thicker insulation for the water and prevents it from freezing. Now, after my son decided to “crush” things other than ice in my bin, the whole thing is leaking. Hope this helps you out.
