Hi, the pump I purchased isn't working. There were 3 wires connected to my old water pump (red, green with yellow stripe, and black). That old pump has apparently been replaced with this part number (AP3160348) and it does say it's compatible with my GE Profile (WPSQ4160T5WW) washer but it's not working properly. Now the machine will only drain when the lid is open - I'm assuming because the wiring is wrong (I choose to use the red and green/yellow wire and leave the black wire disconnected).

So, how can this be wired to work properly given 3 wires and only 2 plugs?

Any help would be really appreciated!

GE is very tight with their tech documents, so I do not have a wiring diagram for your model.

Take off the console and you should find tech notes and a wiring diagram inside. See if that will help you. Sounds like you just have things backward, but cannot really say without a good schematic.
