We have had trouble with our Kenmore(25351392101) fridge/freezer s/s ice maker(GSI-23) for a couple of years. I have tried looking at the back and the hairdryer method previously to no avail. Bought ice since it didnt make ice for us, mostly just in the Winter, BTW(!). Last night tried the hairdryer again, lowered freezer temp, took off back and cleaned it out and took off faceplate to see if any wiring issues were present. Put everything back in place and this morning it is making ice! Thank you all!
It also has recently begun not dispensing cubes (even from bought ice) but only crushed, no matter the setting. Took out bin and fooled with the bottom arm and now we have cubes also! Again, kudos on the help.
To the last possible issue - when I replaced the faceplate, the "on-off" arm will not stay raised in the off position anymore. It only stays down. I am now concerned that it will not stop making ice. We use alot of ice but I guess I am looking for a proactive solution to the arm situation before anything else occurs. I feel that I may have done something internally when looking behind the faceplate into the switch and wiring mechanism. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you in advance!
