Hello!

I am trying to identify what looks like something missing in my dishwasher. I found the parts lists on this web site very helpful, but I don't see my missing part in the diagrams. I have attached pictures.

I have what looks like a hole about 3/4" in the left interior wall of my Whirlpool dishwasher, about the same height as the lower dishwasher rack. It looks like some sort of plug or attachment belonged there. It is about the same spot as where part 38 in the parts diagram meets the wall. Unfortunately the diagram doesn't seem to identify whether I'm missing a plug, gasket, or what.

The dishwasher functions properly, but the brown inside the hole worries me a little bit. I'm an appliance novice, but I can answer more questions.

Thank you for your time.

I would not worry about it.
It is just your water inlet and is fused to the outside of the tub.
The brown is probably just iron from the water.

You could stand to clean that door seal, though. It will start leaking, if it gets much worse.
