not sure on age 3-7 years old. ONLY when in spin cycles - makes a very loud bang, bang, bang,etc... sounds. Replaced the clutch assembly today - didn't help. I took the motor/clutch/trans into repair shop (they were still connected to each other). They suggested the clutch assmbly. LOOKED at the other parts and said they seemed to be ok. PLEASE HELP !!! everything else works great.

You might have dragging brake shoes causing the motor to kick out. This jar to the motor will soon crack the motor epoxy and ruin the motor!
Check out my article "dragging brake shoes" page 3 of general talk section.

Yesterday I got the clutch rebuild kit and changed out the very worn out white plastic piece that ( I think) stops the brake and also changed out the ring with the little brake shoes on it. Unfortunately for me it didn't help in any way. the noise is still a constant continual bang bang bang bang, etcc during the spin cyle. Doesn't sound like water, or lodged item , or bearings. Just bang bang bang bang... All the springs are intact. motor works, pump works. I don't know enough about transmissions on a washer to know for sure, but it changes to each cycle ok - no bang or sharp stop or start. ARGH !!!!!!! Thanks for all of your help - it is most appreciated

Pull the pump and motor out and turn the tranny coupler clockwise till the spin basket turns. If there is a busted nylon gear in the tranny, you will feel it as the gears produce a clunking sound. Post results.

We had the motor and trans at the repair shop and the tech there wiggled it around and said it was fine. He suggested rebuilding the clutch and that's what we did but it didn't help at all. The tech said he couldn't help any more - didn't have any other suggestions. Today, when it's in the spin cyle, as it gets faster, the banging gets a little quieter - very little but it does.

Well, now the basket no longer spins and it's super loud. Can't use it at all since it sticks. I THINK it'll be a transmission. any ideas?
