Maytag does not sell the bearing separate. It comes as a part of the outer tub assembly, that's why it is very expensive.

I know maytag wants you to buy the whole tub, but the bearing has to have numbers on it?? like a timken or other number?? I have been a car mechanic and work on large trucks and farm tractors most if not all bearings have a part number on them and can bo found elseware?

Crunch into Google, Maytag Neptune MAH3000 spin basket bearings. You will get several sites that will supply bearings. Also, Maytag does sell the seal for them.
Main hard job is pounding out the old bearings, some people use a piece of pipe and a hammer to do it. You can use the old bearings to start pressing in the new ones. I would use a wood dowel to get them in all the way.
Also, when you pull out the spin basket, inspect the spider drum support for water damage, and clean and spray with a good metal protector like rustoleum.

Hi Jeff,

Richappy was right and you probably will find more or less good advise for this bearing over the Internet (you can find everything over the Internet today), but in my opinion this washer is not worth it.

This is very serious job for at least 5 hours (together with the bearing replacement).

I would buy a classic top load washer, made by Whirlpool and without any computers (if you can find a such one).

Gene.

If you are going to junk it, remember, it is full of expensive parts. I have one in my junkyard that I will use for parts.

I believe www.applianceaid.com has this procedure, they say it is rather easy.

I just replaced the bearings on my Nepyune 5500. The bearings were NKS bearings I think. Doesn't matter as they are just common sealed bearings that you can pick up anywhere. You will need to order the seal kit also. I repaired mine for less than $100.
