My Frigidaire Gallery frontloading washer has stopped washing/agitating. It fills with water then sits quietly, though I can hear the timer cycling. After some time it will drain, refill and sit again. Eventually it will spin and rinse. I have replaced the timer, and it seems to drain okay, although the purging is pretty loud. The discharge strength seems normal into the drain. It acts the same in regular, permanent press, and delicate settings.

Most likely the problem is a bad motor speed control board (#4 on the cabinet break down diagram). You have to remove the rear panel to access the part. - The part number for the speed control board is AP2107536 Gene.

Thanks Gene! I bought a new speed control board this morning and installed it. Washing machine runs perfectly now. Never thought agitation could be so welcome.

Gene,
I replaced the door lock assembly according to the manufacturer instructions. I tried to cycle the washing machine thru to the final spin in cycle as noted in the instructions but the knob would not move. After pushing on it the knob finally spun around, but nothing happens when I try to start the cycle. The door lock light comes on, but nothing happens at all. The door will not open now as well. I have cycled the knob around several times but it still will not work or unlock the door. I know I have connected the wires properly, and I left the machine unplugged for 30 minutes then tried again but there is no change. Any ideas?
(I tried having someone trained fix the machine, but they were lmore clueless than I am about repair issues and are the only repair ffacility within 50 miles :| )

Look for the diagnostic sheet behind the kick panel. There you will find a no spin diagnostic. One area to look is the reed switch magnet on the soap dispensor housing. Also I think there is a tab on the bottom of the door latch that you can pull down to release the door.
