I turned my washer on the other day and walked away only to discover a few minutes later my floor flooded. This just started suddenly. Now I have to stand by and manually turn the cold water off at the valve after filling up and back on and off again for the rinse cycle. The hot water will stop running into the washer when it begins to agitate, but the cold continues to run. Someone told my boyfriend that it sounded like the cold water solenoid valve. I am wondering if that could be the problem and also if that is expensive and if we could possibly fix it ourselves.
