My dishwasher used to occasionally leave grit on glassware and ceramic bowls in the top rack, but in the last couple weeks has started leaving grit on anything in either rack as well as some food particles. There's usually more food on the outer surfaces of the dishes than in the bottom of the unit.
I've taken out the traps and filters and cleaned them and there doesn't seem to be anything under the impeller cover. The lower spray bar still turns, but I'm not entirely sure the upper one does. I flipped it on its back and the tube to the top nozzle looks clear and clean. I can't seem to find much info about this unit other than the owner's manual, which isn't much help.
Any ideas on what I need to get this thing working again?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for FRIGIDAIRE FDP635RFR5 Frigidaire/dishwasher | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a tech sheet http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Kinston/154396801.pdfHere is a manual nor exactly your unit but should be close http://frigidaireservicetips.com/pdfs/485_3.pdfI am assuming that you have not changed detergents lately. Could be a problem with the temperature boost if you are using that. Looks like the thermostat is normally open and closes when the proper water temperature is reached. Check it to ensure it is open at room temperature. Could also be a heater or it's hi-limit thermostat but you would also see wet dishes if you are using heated dry. AlsI think this unit will hang up if using temperature boost. Could also be the unit is not filling to the correct level. I am not sure if it should fill just below or just over the heater. Often the unit will sound different if the pump is starving for water. You can check it by adding some hot water after it fills, if it runs OK then that is probably your problem. The most common cause is a partially clogged screen filter on the input side of the water valve. Clean the screen. Do not remove it permanently from the valve as it is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold it open and cause a flood. |
