The inside of both the freezer and frig compartments seem almost ambient in temperature in the upper portion of the compartments. Items on the shelf above the ice maker do not freeze. (we do not use the icemaker in this unit), although items below the icemaker freeze solid. Items in the top of the refrigerator side seem barely cool wereas the bottom of the compartment seems okay.

Your fridg. probably has a refrigerant leak or bad compressor. I would pull off the back freezer panel to confirm. If partially frozen, I would call a pro. to look at it.

You have a motherboard in that refrigerator. It is located on the backside of the refrigerator, behind a panel. If you open the refrigerator, you most likely will not hear the fan running. If so, the motherboard is most likely bad. I have only replaced a few evaporator fan motors. I can tell you to take the back off, and see if the fan gets voltage, but I don't know how technical you are. If you hear the fan running, then look down close to the bottom in the freezer at the back wall and tell me if you see a frost build up on the back wall. Let me know what you find. I'm just now getting to the checks per your response, so I have no answers yet for you there. Although the first thing I see is a condenser that is excessively covered in dust/residue (the frig operated inside a barn for a period of time). Could this possibly be the problem and will cleaning it maybe take care of the problem? Thank you for our time. I will continue with your checks.

Tom, Iv'e completed the checks you suggested, and as you said cleaning the condenser didn't make a difference.. The condenser fan is operating. There is frost build up on the lower half of the back wall inside the freezer compartment.

Well, what you have to do is take the back off the freezer section and defrost the coil. That will get you buy for about 4 or 5 days. But, on the bottom of the evaporator coil there is the heater. You need to take the 2 phillip head screws that hold the heater in place, and carefully remove it, and take off the wires going to it, and ohm the heater out. If the heater gets an ohm reading, replace the motherboard. If the heater gets no reading, replace the heater. Cut and dry!!!!! Tom ApplianceEducator.com - Parts
