Gentlemen,
I have a 3-year old Samsung RS2630SH that has some ice buildup in the freezer part, but at least freezer side is cooling. Refridgirator side is warm, and no air is coming out of the vents. If I defrost it completely, it will work for few days and then stop cooling in the fridge compartment.
I did some reasearch and it appears that there are many things that can cause this, I'm wondering if anyone has any pointers on where to start? According to few searches here and on the 'Net in general, this could be anything from defective defrost timer or termister to complete main board failure. I figured I'd start with something simple like defrost timer diagnostic per Gene's sticky, but I guess I'm too stupid: I can't seem to locate the defrost timer to complete the first step. I dowloaded disassebly manual as well, but it didn't have any information reagarding defrost timer in it.
Any pointers or suggestions?
Many thanks in advance!

Good luck with the repair tech. I had two come out for my 2 yr old Samsung fridge and they won't come out anymore. I have been having the same problem and may be able to help if the tech can't get you up and running. I may have solved mine.

In my case the problem was two-fold:
1. Little fan in the freezer that pushes cold air into the fridge section was freezin up. Bracket it is in has some weird incline angle and is prone to icing up. New, updated part is at a different angle and condensation has a chance to drip off before freezing.
2. Flap motor that opens and shuts flaps that let cold air into the fridge section was stuck closed. Tech lubed it and will come back to replace it as soon as the part comes from manufacturer.
Hope this helps someone!

If you have the rs2630sh like I do, it does not have a defrost timer. The timer is built into the electronic circuit board or main board. I have replaced mine and that didn't help. I had tech check the thermostat and the heater, both are good. I am trying to find out if there is anyway to reset the timer but no luck yet.

tonys,

If the bi-metal and heater check out ok, then the problem could be the f-def-sensor. It is housed in a white plastic clamp assembly just to the left below the fan. Check the resistance. At room temperature 68F is should read around 1.2K ohms per the chart in the service manual and when colder the resistance should go up . Mine was telling the mainboard that the temperature was over 100 degrees and would not let the defrost cycle begin so the evaporator coil iced up in a few days.

or it could be the same problem as dlimanov stated above.

Your manual is at

Hi, I have the same problem with my Samsung 3yr rs2630sh. 2 week ago the freezer side was not cold. I had to defrost manually by remove the cover evaporator and install a fan to melt the ice on the evap. I think that the element to melt the ice is not working but they look good. Any suggestion.
