My Amana (freezer on bottom) refrigerator is not defrosting and ice is building up on the coils. I understand that the defective part is most likely the defrost heater, the defrost thermostat, or the defrost timer. I defrosted the area manually with a hair dryer. The heater ohms out at 33.7 ohms, which I assume makes that okay?
I have not tested the defrost thermostat because I have to cut one of the wires to test it.
My timer is apparently located in the refrigerator portion, under the trim pieces in the top that house the temp control and light bulbs for the refrigerator portion. I have the clear vented piece removed. I then removed two visible screws, but am unsure as to how to remove the white plastic cover place that I assume is hiding the timer. I don't want to break it, so could use some help in how to remove this?
Thanks, Blue

Gene, thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed. I will complete my troubleshooting tomorrow. It should be easy, now that I have the manual.
Many thanks for your help. Blue
