When this machine first goes into the pump out (drain) mode with the transmission idle the machine is very noisy, like a grinding noise. When the transmission engages after the power interuption, the spin and pump noise combination is dramatically reduced. Is this a bum transmission while in the "neutral" mode?

Thanks,

George

It may be. Since your machine is less than one year old, call Whirlpool (800-hiroper) and setup a service call.

I'll be fixing the unit myself. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,

It sounds like your transmission is bad. Why would you not call Whirlpool? A transmission is very expensive.

I had a chance to listen to an identical machine and it sounds the same. Must be the design.
