A few days ago we had a power outage. I think it was a limb on a line somewhere b/c it would cycle off and on multiple times.


Today, I went to wash clothes for the first time since the outage. Washer fills and drains but no agitation or spinning in any cycle.

Moter spins freely (not bound), belt is fine, Thermal fuse on white/red wire on right side of case is fine (i believe, still looks new, no burns or discoloration).

The LED on the board by the motor does not blink at all. I have seen the LED in this video YouTube - GE Hydrowave-inside shot of the washer ramping up to full spin speed!.

Could the power issue have fried the board?

The fuse looks find but have you checked it with an ohmmeter?

The ones I have seem bad didn’t look bad but checked bad with a meter.

The fuse will cause the light not to blink and the only other thing will be the motor, provided it has proper line voltage and there isn’t a loose connection.

Ok, followed that link and have pulled the fuse and checked it with an ohmmeter. *I don't check continuity much so bear with me* With the meter set at "200" it reads between 0.1-0.3. Any other setting (2k, 20K, 200K, 2M) all read zero. This means the fuse is good right?

All connectors on the motor are tight. and behind the switchplate are tight.

well, since fuse is good, i checked for power between red/black and white/red and is good. must be the motor. bye bye $160

Yes I believe the motor is bad. There is nothing else that will cause the LED not to blink.

The lid switch will cause your problems but it will not cause the LED not to blink. You may what to check that just in case.

I ordered a new motor assembly and when installed everything works now. I can only guess the power blips fried the board. Thanks for your help applianceman.
