After storms last night the dryer now will heat and run for only about 30 seconds. It is a Maytag Ensignia quiet 200 that is about 2-1/2 years old. Could the power going out affect the timer?

Your symptoms are usually associated with motor failure, but check the timer and the contacts. I would clean the connection with contact cleaner and reseat them, and do the same on the motor connection, but at the end of the day it may mean your motor is failing. Here is a service manual for your machine that will show you how to get into it and do some testing. http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16026315.pdf
