My wife was cleaning the oven element, she heard a "pop" noise and now there is no power to oven or top elements. The clock lights up when she turns the knob for a top element, but the element does not heat up.
The Whirlpool is free-standing and has "Accubake" and "Whirlpool Gold" written on the top front.
I will appreciate any help,
Dennis

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL GR399LXGQ2 | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is the tech sheet http://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/Tech%20Sheet%20-%208053303.pdfSounds like you have lost the 240 volts. Try flipping your breaker off/on slowly a couple times, sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker and the elements require the full 240 while the controller only needs 120. If this does nothing then measure the voltage at the plug. L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK With the unit still unplugged check the wires at the units terminal stip to be sure that they are tight and OK. If OK Plug the unit in and check that the voltages are at the terminal strip. Cound be that the line cord has a bad wire. Note: Be very careful here as 240 volts is lethal. The pop she heard does indicate that something blew in the unit but I cannot say what. |

It's likely that one of your elements blew out. Turn off power to the oven, make sure it is cool, and take a close look at the elements or feel along one. If you see or feel what looks like a burn hole or a raised section in one, that's it. Mine just blew a couple of weeks ago and that's what my wife reported - a popping sound - this is the sound of it shorting out as it burns thru it's insulation. Fortunately, element replacements are easy to do.
