The dryer was making louder than average humm noise so I opened it up to see what might be the problem I saw the felt was worn some so I sent off for a new felt and repalced it .
I replaced the ball joint in the rear too along with the plastic ball hitch mount fired it up and the motor noise is still there the dryer spins properly drys the clothes but it is very obvoius that something is not right.
I inspected the motor the shaft is aligned properly no play and spins freely. There were these things with springs that were held in place are these the brushes if so would replacing these fix it because I see nothing else that could be done. Is replacing the brushes that easy? Or would it best to bring the motor to a shop? What would a brush set cost?
I would perfer that you hear what it sounds like it kinda sounds like a pool pump or the way a garbage disposal motor humms when it is pumping water with a struggle wind every quarter cycle?
Replacing the motor is $102 plus but if replacing the brushes is possible for less then I am game.

Am not sure what springs you rae referring to. If they are Item 27 in Section 4 of the parts, they just hold the motor on the motor mount. Try rotating the drum by hand in the correct direction, it should turn fairly easily. You may want to try this on a couple other units to get a feel for it. I would also check the blower wheel is OK and in the blower. Could be there is something in there that does not interfere with anything till the motor comes up to full speed |

I also checked the blower for obstructions the shaft spins freely and is not unbalanced With replacement dryers costing upwards of $300 I would wish to repair this unit. I will see if a brush kit is offered that seemed to be a simple fix even if I have to buy a new motor it is far less expensive to repair than replace at this point.:confused:
