I'm pretty sure I need to check the defrost timer, but where is it located on my side by side refridgerator. I had this thing apart twice already while manually defrosting it, and looking for air blockages. My condenser coils freeze up in about 2 days and teh refridgerator gets warm, the freezer warms up to about 20 degrees F, the refridge to 40+. The defrost cycle never seems to come on. I will get a "DE" blinking light after 2-3 days of manually defrosting. all the fans are working fine, the condenser seems to be working, there is no defrost cycle and I can not find the defrost timer. Please Help!
Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike, The defrost timer is shown as #257 on the diagram and it is inside the control bracket (#436). The most common failure with such GE made refrigerators is a bad defrost heater (#230 on the diagram) which has to be carefully tested for continuity and visually. The new heater comes together with the defrost thermostat, so you do not have to order it separate. - The defrost heater Part number: AP2071465

I will check these out when I get home tonight. THanks for the quick response. I am hopeing it's the timer, I'll bet the heaters cost 3 times as much. Whatever it takes though, anything is better than having to replace th efridge.
Thanks, Mike

I went home last night and checked the heaters last night and sure enough there was a bad one. I will be ordering a new one today. If only I would have wiped the condensation of of the glass surrounding the heater I could have caught this days ago. Chalk up another one to experience.
Thanks again for all your help.
Mike A.
