The door latches on our microwave stopped functioning correctly, that is, the microwave would continue cooking when the door was opened. Also, the interior light would not come on when the door was opened, but worked when cooking. I ordered new switches (AP3109474) but after plugging the microwave back in, there was no power at all. The outlet is ok, 20 amp fuse ok. One of the original switches was dirty and stuck closed so I put the original switches back in. Still no power--I checked the switches with my fuse tester and they all appear to be ok. Do you have any suggestions before I contact a repairman? Thank you.

Hi Jimm,

There are three switches on the door frame. Two interlock (the primary and the secondary) and the monitor switch.

Both interlock switches are normally open (NO) while the monitor switch is normally closed (NC).

The new switches made by Whirlpool can be used as a replacement for both type of microwave door switches with usage of different pairs from three available terminals. A third, not needed, terminal can be broken off.

Also the position of the door switches can be adjusted for proper engagement.

Check the proper installation of the switches.

Gene.
