I have a Kenmore Elite H3 gas dryer that the flame does not remain on. If the dryer is cold (not used in over 30 minutes), the igniter glows and the flame lights within seconds. The flame will remain on and the dryer will heat properly for approximately 15-20 minutes but then the flame goes out. After a few minutes of it going out, the igniter will start to glow again, I hear some clicking or rattling sound and then the igniter stops glowing... burner doesn't light. It will continue through this cycle of the igniter glowing and shutting off with no flame for while. If I turn the dryer off for a while, allowing it to cool down, then start it up again, the flame turns on correctly but then shuts off after some time and the cycle starts all over again.

I've verified that there is nothing obstructing the vent, all lint has been cleaned away and I have also tried running it without the vent duct connected and the dryer pulled away from the wall. Same problem happens.

Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Intuitively, it seems to be a faulty thermostat or other part that monitors temperature but I have no clue.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

So I've searched high and low for an answer to my problem on this forum and others. I believe my issue is due to a bad coils so I ordered Coil Kit #AP3094251 last night. I will post an update with the results once I replace them since there are probably others that are having a similar problem to mine.

BTW, I should mention that the cost of the coil kit if I ordered through the Sears site was triple to what I paid by ordering from here. :)

Came home from work to find the new coils I ordered sitting on my porch. Changed clothes, grabbed a small phillips screw driver and the parts, 10 minutes later, I had the new coils installed. My wife ran a load of laundry, stuck them in the dryer, 32 minutes later she had a nicely dried load of clothes.

In summary, replacing the coils did the trick!! Here's a picture as proof!!
